In 2017 a new building was built to house music classes and practice rooms, specialist offices, 2 classrooms and a toilet block. These began being used from January 2018. This meant that the old toilet block (which was new in the 1970s), cricket nets and Groundsman’s shed were demolished and relocated. The old music room was used for over 50 years and for most of them a large picture of Queen Elizabeth II graced its walls. Over the years the foundations under the music room had been crumbling so it was decommissioned and much reconstructive work took place in 2017 to shore up that end of F Block. The ‘old music room’ space is now a safe and secure open area available for playtime, classes and YOSHC use.
The new building, M block, is single level, sits in landscaped grounds, has a wide corridor and spacious rooms. The classrooms feature flexible seating, data projectors, carpeted floors, concertina doors for double class use and large windows with panoramic views. Students across the school now use iPads or laptops (Year 6) to assist in their education. Inquiry Learning is facilitated by having access to so much information and a curriculum that fosters curious minds.
