Planning for next year’s 150th celebrations is well on its way!
Commissioned artwork complete
School parent, artist, and specialist art teacher, Liby Elcome, was commissioned to produce an artwork to celebrate our school for the 150th Anniversary. As she sketched L Block, school classes took advantage of having an artist-in-residence to learn more about the process of producing an artwork. The artwork is now complete, ready for scanning and framing, and will be unveiled at the Foundation Day Assembly on Friday 5th February 2021. It’s great to have something complete and ready for next year!
Memorabilia, photos and archives
Past student, Emma Macbeth (alumni 2011) has been volunteering her time to sort through a room full of school archives, and helped categorise the donated memorabilia and photos. She has been doing a great job and has uncovered many special items that will be displayed and highlighted next year. Thank you to Emma and to many people who have donated their personal items for our school archives.
If you have anything to donate, please drop them off at the office, or scan and email – jbenn293@eq.edu.au We are particularly looking for old YSS uniforms to display at our 150th Anniversary events. Do you have any that you would be happy to donate? This would include formal and sports uniforms, choir or other special event wear, year 6/7 shirts, or other pieces that are not currently worn by students.
Yours in Celebration, Jennifer Bennett
